Non-profits already do work that change lives, often on very little.

On a budget of ₹11 crore, one organisation enabled 8.5 lakh people to access ₹550 crore worth of government welfare benefits across education, livelihood and maternity schemes. Others have shaped national education and health policy on similarly modest budgets. The constraint is rarely the idea. It is the path to scale.

Philanthropy can be the capital that unlocks the rest.

Indian philanthropy puts around ₹1.2 lakh crore to work each year, next to the government's ₹25.7 lakh crore. Used well, this capital does not compete with public spending but is strategic and complementary and makes public spending go further, backing the organisations and their work in the development phase that governments then adopt and scale.
